About TX Coastal Cams

TX Coastal Cams was born from a simple idea: bring the breathtaking beauty of the Texas Gulf Coast to anyone, anywhere, at any time. Starting with live streams from Bob Hall Pier and Malaquite Beach on Padre Island National Seashore, our platform delivers real-time views of some of the most stunning and ecologically rich coastline in the United States.

More Than a Camera

What sets TX Coastal Cams apart is what's running behind the scenes. Each of our live streams is integrated with AI-assisted wildlife recognition technology — a system that passively monitors camera footage in real time, identifying and logging coastal species as they appear on screen. Shorebirds, brown pelicans, bottlenose dolphins, sea turtles, and other wildlife that frequent these shores are automatically detected and catalogued without any human disturbance to their natural habitat. This means every visitor who tunes in isn't just watching the coast — they're contributing to a growing body of wildlife observation data.

Supporting Coastal Research

The data generated by our AI recognition system is made available to researchers and conservation organizations studying Gulf Coast ecosystems. By providing a continuous, non-invasive observation platform, TX Coastal Cams aims to support biodiversity monitoring, migration tracking, and long-term habitat health assessments for one of the most important coastal regions in North America.

Where We're Headed

This two-week pilot is just the beginning. Our roadmap includes expanding the camera network up and down the Texas coast, deepening our AI model's species recognition capabilities, building public-facing wildlife sighting logs, and partnering with universities, wildlife agencies, and conservation groups to maximize the research impact of our platform. We believe technology and nature can work hand in hand — and TX Coastal Cams is our proof of concept.
